Sailaway is the beginning of your dream vacation.

singles cruise sailaway party on princess starAfter feasting on the afternoon's gigantic Welcome Buffet and enjoying a few "drinks of the day", everyone (and I mean everyone) joins topside at sunset to wave goodbye to the homeport and begin their cruise.

Amazingly the sailaway experience is entirely different depending on which of the two decks you choose.

Princess Star Cruise SailawaySpend your time on the upper deck if you want to hug your sweetie and watch the sunset as the ships sails away....

Win prizes doing silly things! If a PARTY is in your plans... put on your dancing deck-shoes and head to the pool deck. Be ready for fun and games. (take a look at Thelma who dove in the pool (dressed!) for a chance at a spa gift certificate!)

Or dance to the music and earn raffle coupons where you can win everything from dinner at a specialty restaurant to champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries!

Accommodations:

I'd never sailed on a Princess cruise before, and reason for going on this cruise had more to do with Vacations to go and their singles cruise than the ship itself. I booked a 'standard' OV (ocean view) cabin, known as an "Oceanview Double." Room had a large picture window, a refrigerator and TV. I left the twin beds separated, so I could sleep on one bed and put my 'stuff' on the other.

COMPLAINT: Sometimes it's the little things that you never think of... The bottom sheet on my bed was awful! Every night I found myself sleeping on a bunched up sheet in the middle of the bed. I even tried duct tape! Either the room steward didn't know how to make the bed right, or the sheets didn't fit. This may sound like a minor complaint; but on my vacation, good sleeping accomodations are a major priority!

Dining:

Vacations to go arranged for all the singles to have their own tables and we could 'mix and match' as we chose. That worked extremely well. Star Princess food was very similar to other ships - usually delicious.
